{"id":183,"date":"2019-03-27T13:48:38","date_gmt":"2019-03-27T17:48:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.jamesblakeley.ca\/?p=183"},"modified":"2019-03-27T14:09:12","modified_gmt":"2019-03-27T18:09:12","slug":"dell-r610-r710-idrac-not-connecting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.jamesblakeley.ca\/?p=183","title":{"rendered":"Dell R610\/R710 iDRAC Virtual Console not connecting"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Environment:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Workstation: Windows 7 Professional\n<ul>\n<li>Internet Explorer 11<\/li>\n<li>Java 1.8 Update 201<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Server: Dell Poweredge R610\n<ul>\n<li>iDRAC 6<\/li>\n<li>Firmware: 2.92 (Build 05)<\/li>\n<li>Lifecycle Controller Firmware: 1.7.5.4<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Problem<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When trying to connect to the Virtual Console on a Dell R610 (or any 11th generation Dell Server at this point) i have ran into multiple challenges getting the JAVA or ActiveX to work.\u00a0 After many hours of trying to find a working solution here is what has worked for launching the JAVA console<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Solution<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Ensure you have a working copy of Java installed. On my system i am running Java 8 Update 201<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Note: If you are running the default Dell signed certificate add it as a JAVA exception. You will still get prompts but you can click through those<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open Control Panel as local administrator<\/li>\n<li>Open Java<\/li>\n<li>open the Security Tab<\/li>\n<li>Under Exception Site List &gt; Edit Site List<\/li>\n<li>Enter FQDN &amp; IP Address of the iDRAC<\/li>\n<li>Click OK<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Note: Ensure you have local administrator\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>privileges<\/b><\/span><br \/>\nI am running notepad++ with my local admin account<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Navigate to C:\\Program files (x86)\\Java\\jre1.8.0_201\\lib\\security<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>open <strong>java.security<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>find the following line (mine was found on line 647<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>jdk.tls.disabledAlgorithms=SSLv3, RC4, MD5withRSA, DH keySize &lt; 1024, \\<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Comment the above out<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>#jdk.tls.disabledAlgorithms=SSLv3, RC4, MD5withRSA, DH keySize &lt; 1024, \\<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add the following line<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>jdk.tls.disabledAlgorithms=MD5withRSA, DH keySize &lt; 1024, \\\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It should look like below<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_184\" style=\"width: 828px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.jamesblakeley.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/idrac-javasecurity.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-184\" class=\"size-full wp-image-184\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.jamesblakeley.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/idrac-javasecurity.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"818\" height=\"101\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.jamesblakeley.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/idrac-javasecurity.png 818w, http:\/\/blog.jamesblakeley.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/idrac-javasecurity-300x37.png 300w, http:\/\/blog.jamesblakeley.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/idrac-javasecurity-768x95.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 818px) 100vw, 818px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-184\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Java.Security<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Save the file<\/li>\n<li>Re-open your iDRAC Console and you should finally be able to see the Server Console<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Update #1<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In testing i have reset the java.security file back to its previous state and found the Java Virtual Console still re-opened, your mileage may vary but at this point i&#8217;ll take a working console!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=mad_manc\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Environment: Workstation: Windows 7 Professional Internet Explorer 11 Java 1.8 Update 201 Server: Dell Poweredge R610 iDRAC 6 Firmware: 2.92 (Build 05) Lifecycle Controller Firmware: 1.7.5.4 Problem When trying to connect to the Virtual Console on a Dell R610 (or any 11th generation Dell Server at this point) i have ran into multiple challenges getting the JAVA or ActiveX to work.\u00a0 After many hours of trying to find a working solution here is what has worked for launching the JAVA console Solution Ensure you have a working copy of Java installed.
